Manterola bookstore was opened to the public in 1955, in the same location we find it nowadays. By this year, its founder, Juan Arbelaiz Iņarra, had already devoted himself to antique books, but without a store. From the beginning he paid special attention to the Basque book, not only to antique, unique or curious ones, but also to the few new books that were being published at that time. After his death, his descendants kept on the bookstore, continuing his specialization in the subject.

Manterola bookstore specializes not only in antique books, but also maps,
plans, engravings, lithographies, posters and any other printed matter
or manuscript that witnesses the past. But we consider as important as
old books and engravings that our clients share their passion for these
items with us. As the logo for our assotiation says Amor librorum
nos unit and, over the years, many and very diverse people
started as clients and ended up as friends. By means of this site, we
want to reach more people, people that may share our enthusiasm, and that
could become our friends or our accomplices. We are waiting for you!.
